QR Code Verification on Certified Translations: What It Is and Why It Matters

How Verification Works

When a USCIS officer, immigration attorney, notary, or court clerk scans the QR code, they are taken to a secure verification page. Here is what the process looks like from their perspective:

The server looks up the record

The HMAC-SHA256 Digital Signature

Any change to the record breaks the signature

If anyone were to alter the verification code, order number, language, or date in our database after signing — even changing a single character — the signature would no longer match when recomputed. The verification page would immediately show a red 'Signature Mismatch' alert.

A cryptographic signature cannot be faked without the secret key — and if someone attempts to tamper with the underlying data, the tampering is immediately detectable.
